Panelist
Dr. Marcy L. Paul recently joined the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton as the Jewish Community Relations Director. After spending thirty years in academe, she’s excited to be in Dayton and take on these new responsibilities including advocacy and programming focusing on public policy at the local and national levels, social justice, understanding Israel, and Jewish education and outreach. Dr. Paul’s PhD, from Texas Woman’s University, was in Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies focusing in areas of social justice and equity in alignment with her upbringing in the Reform Jewish Movement. For the past several years, while living in Fort Worth, Texas she was involved in the Partnership2Gether (P2G) program, affiliated with the Jewish Federations of North America. Similar to a sister city initiative, 16 U.S. communities, including Fort Worth and Dayton, Budapest, Hungary, and the central region of the Western Galilee in Israel connect and build relationships between communities and collaborate on programs. As Director for Jewish Community Relations, Dr. Paul brings her different interests and expertise together and continues the work that she has done professionally and in a volunteer capacity since she was a youngster growing up in Evanston, Illinois.

Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, Rabbi Bodney-Halasz attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she received her undergraduate degree in Comparative Literary Studies with a focus on Hebrew Literature and Culture. She received her Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) and was ordained as a rabbi in 2007.
