Crossing the Threshold
Everyone can support returning veterans as they integrate back into the community and work. It starts with listening. Learn from Veterans helping other Veterans find their place back home. This program is part of Veterans Coming Home, a public media effort to support veterans made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

- Luke Heikkila
Luke Heikkila is the senior producer of "Crossing the Threshold." Since 2004, he has been working with Twin Cities Public Television tpt partners and producing stories with them. Having two military embeds under his belt (Iraq, 2009 and Afghanistan, 2012), Luke has developed a deep-rooted appreciation for what our nation’s Veterans have done for all of us.
- Kathleen Vitalis
Kathleen Vitalis is the President/CEO for the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. Her responsibilities include managing all day-to-day activities of the statewide organization as well as being the key interface for private foundation giving/fundraising. Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing & Finance from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
- Nathaniel Saltz
Nathaniel Saltz is the Program Director for the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. Since 2003, he has been serving veterans experiencing homelessness at MACV, including operating and case managing veterans in a 13-bed transitional housing program and coordinating the annual Twin Cities Metro StandDown. Nathaniel currently serves on a number of community committees addressing homelessness.
