KEET-TV and the League of Women Voters of Humboldt County are hosting a a screening of The Vote from AMERICAN EXPERIENCE. We will watch "Jailed for Freedom" followed by a panel discussion. You can see the the full series on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7 at 9 p.m.

    Susan Seaman


    Susan Seaman is Mayor of Eureka and a 30 year resident of the city. She received a BA from Humboldt State University in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2020. She and her husband Richard raised two children in Eureka.

    Anne Hartline


    Anne Hartline retired three years ago following a 25-year career as a middle school history and language arts teacher in McKinleyville. She joined the League of Women Voters of Humboldt County soon after she moved to the area 40 years ago, and has been active as a board member and forum moderator for the League for over twenty years. Anne has been a dedicated voter since the first time she went to the polls in1972 as part of the first group of 18 year olds to vote in a national election. It is her combined passion for U.S. history and the importance of citizen participation through voting that brings her here today as part of this presentation on the passage of the 19th Amendment.

    Julie Fulkerson


    Julie Fulkerson is on the Humboldt Area Foundation Board where she fully embraces the mission and work of the Foundation to be more inclusive and generous. In December, 2016, she finished six terms of elected office including Council Member and Mayor, City of Arcata; Board Member and Chair of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors; Council Member and Mayor, City of Trinidad. She has served on various boards engaged with economic development, public transportation, alternative energy, clean water and community/health/social services. She served on the Local Government Commission Board, a statewide coalition that promotes Smart Growth. Julie is the founder of Cascadia Leadership Training and Options, a non-profit providing family counseling and life-work planning workshops and conferences. To put direct energy into job creation, she launched three retail businesses located at the heart of communities needing repair and rehabilitation. She hosted a public radio talk show and public television series to promote “what works” and the source of inspiration for individuals and organizations. She has worked as consultant and trainer for government agencies, non-profits and business to generate the best possible outcomes. She has been dedicated to the health and well-being of the community throughout her life. She plays the violin in chamber groups and symphony orchestras to keep herself in balance.
