Forged in Steel - The Roots of American Soccer. This EMMY-nominated documentary chronicles the history of America’s first soccer dynasty, Bethlehem Steel FC. This special reveals the story of the team through the eyes of historians, soccer enthusiasts and super fans. The original Bethlehem Steel FC was one of the most dominant teams in the history of the sport. This “super team” acted as a catalyst to establish soccer as a major sport in America.

  • Stephen Jiwanmall

    Stephen Jiwanmall joined PBS39 in June 2019. He spent four years in Florida, reporting and anchoring for WTXL, the ABC affiliate of Tallahassee. Jiwanmall reported in Bucks and Montgomery counties for two years, working for the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer as a video reporter. He earned state and national awards for his coverage of transgender issues, following the suicide of a Bucks County teen. Jiwanmall grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from La Salle University and Columbia Journalism School. He now resides in Bethlehem with his husband Ian and their rescue coonhound Opal.

  • Curt Mosel

    As Chief Operating Officer for ArtsQuest, Curt Mosel leads a 30 + -person team supporting the nonprofit’s arts and cultural programming for the region. He began his professional career in entertainment with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1994, and served as a Senior Ticket Sales Executive as well as Corporate Sales Manager for the Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. In addition, he has worked as Director of Sales for Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire. Curt has successfully led the development of several dynamic arts and cultural programs for ArtsQuest and the Lehigh Valley region including the FIFA World Cup™️ SoccerFest & Viewing Party in June 2014. The outdoor viewing event, designed to celebrate the international appeal of the World Cup, attracted more than 50,000 people to Bethlehem, and was named one of the Best New Events of 2014 by the International Festivals and Events Association.

  • Gina Lewandowski

    Gina Lewandowski is a native resident of Coopersburg, PA, graduated from Lehigh University, where she was a 4 year starter for the Division I Women’s Soccer program, earning Patriot League Rookie of the Year (2003) and 2-time Offensive Player of the Year (2004, 2005). After 2007, the United States unfortunately did not offer a women's professional league so Gina continued to pursue her career in Europe in the German women's league, the Bundesliga, for 1.FFC Frankfurt. While playing in Frankfurt for 5 years, she won the elusive Triple in the 2007/2008 season, all 3 possible competitions to win in one year (the Bundesliga, German Cup, and the UEFA Women's Champions League), before moving to FC Bayern Munich for the next 7 years. It was with Bayern that she helped them win the German Bundesliga 2 times in a row and hold a record unbeaten streak in 40 consecutive games. In 2015, Gina earned her first cap with the United States Women's National Team in an international friendly match versus Brazil. In May of 2019 Gina returned home to the United States to join Sky Blue FC based out of New Jersey.

  • Greg Ramos

    Greg Ramos is Executive Director of Lehigh Valley United FC. He co-founded Lehigh Valley United FC, a soccer club with his father, Lou Ramos, in 2006. He and wife, Gina, are also co-owners of Sherman Street Soccer LLC., with a principal business of running a 40,000 sq. ft. indoor sports and recreation center, ‘The Lou Ramos Center’ (LRC), in Allentown. In addition to leading Lehigh Valley United, Ramos is Vice President of Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League, a committee member of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, and has been involved in teaching, coaching and mentorship for the last 20 years including the Olympic Development Program, assistant coaching at Muhlenberg College and DeSales University, Philadelphia Union Academy Staff (MLS) and teaching English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) at Dieruff High School. Greg graduated from Muhlenberg College, and continued postgraduate studies at Temple University and Inter American University (Puerto Rico). He holds the European Union Football Association (UEFA) ‘A’ License, U.S. Soccer Federation ‘A’ License, and United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma.
