This documentary examines the life and death of pioneering Mexican-American journalist Ruben Salazar.
This documentary examines the life and death of pioneering Mexican-American journalist Ruben Salazar. At the heart of the story is his transformation from a mainstream, establishment Los Angeles Times reporter to a supporter and primary chronicler of the radical Chicano movement of the late 1960s. Killed by a law enforcement officer in 1970, Salazar became a martyr to the Latino community.

Phillip Rodriguez is an award winning filmmaker and fellow at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. Rodriguez's work has been screened at festivals, museums, archives, art houses and universities including; Centre Georges Pompidou, the Guadalajara International Book Fair, The J. Paul Getty Museum, Harvard Film Archives, MOCA Los Angeles, Anthology Film Archives, AFI International Festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival, Smithsonian National Gallery and many other high-profile venues. "Ruben Salazar: Man in the Middle" won Best Documentary at the 2014 San Antonio CineFestival.
