Joseph Beatty is director of Research and Interpretive Education at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Dr. Beatty is a historian whose work explores the intersections of slavery, religion, and culture in the British Atlantic world. Prior to coming to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, he taught courses at the University of Florida and Stetson University. Beatty earned a master’s degree and doctorate in United States History with a concentration in Atlantic History from the University of Florida.
